Hope and Change

I know by looking at the picture and the title some of you may be expecting a political blog today. Sorry to disappoint. Back during the campaign of 2008 hope and change was the catch phrase of our current president. Many people did put their hope in a mere mortal. Today’s blog is not about if whether or not that hope and change worked. But it’s about where real hope and change comes from. And it’s an empty tomb.

The fact that Jesus rose on the third day is the lynch pin of the Christian faith and because of it; that is where we find our hope and is reason for us to change. A lot of stuff in the news lately is about presidential politics. About who will run for president in 2012, it is very important. But by November 2012 I’m hoping for a king and not just a king, but THE King.  When Jesus returns politicians won’t be necessary, if not extinct. Jesus will rule without spending one campaign dollar. Why? Because the Bible says so and everything that God has promised in His Word has come true, including the death, burial and resurrection of Christ. The next thing on the list is His return. Now that’s hope.

Luke 24: 1-7
1 But very early on Sunday morning[a] the women went to the tomb, taking the spices they had prepared. 2 They found that the stone had been rolled away from the entrance. 3 So they went in, but they didn’t find the body of the Lord Jesus. 4 As they stood there puzzled, two men suddenly appeared to them, clothed in dazzling robes.5 The women were terrified and bowed with their faces to the ground. Then the men asked, “Why are you looking among the dead for someone who is alive? 6 He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead! Remember what he told you back in Galilee, 7 that the Son of Man[b] must be betrayed into the hands of sinful men and be crucified, and that he would rise again on the third day.”
