Please pass the antidote

1 Thessalonians 5: 16-18

16 Always be joyful. 17 Never stop praying. 18 Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.

As it says these three things are God’s will for everyone. However, in case no one has told you Satan and God are at war and if something is God’s will for you Satan is going to try and destroy it. When it comes to being joyful, Satan tries to replace that with happiness. You may think what’s wrong with that? Happiness is shallow, temporary, fleeting. Sinful things can easily lead to happiness. Where joy is more permanent, more rooted, and is only found in the LORD. Then there is prayer, Satan at least for me uses distraction and busyness to put a stop to prayer and we would all have to admit he’s pretty good at it. As for being thankful, one of the weapons he uses is pride. Making you think you did it all on your own and if there was anyone to thank it would be yourself. The other is victimhood, making you think that you are a victim when the smallest thing happens. When he successfully makes you a victim you then immediately stop being thankful.  The serpent will strike it’s just a matter of when, how hard, and how often. The question is how prepared are you and who or what will you turn to? When the serpent does strike the only antidote is Jesus. Do you have the antidote for Satan's strikes?
