Resturant Review: The Hamburg Inn 2

Went with a group to the Hamburg Inn 2 last night it is really an interesting place. The atmosphere is what you would call political an interesting decor for a restaurant. Every president since Reagan has been there. The walls are filled with pictures of politicians I find that strange because politicians could very well make you lose your appetite. The cool thing about the place during an election cycle is that you can place a coffee bean in a jar for those running for office. Right now with the Republican caucus coming up and being in Iowa City needless to say there were not too many coffee beans in jars. But this is a restaurant review and not a political one. The service was not stellar, they are known for their Red Velvet Cake Shake it’s where they make you a shake and at the last minute drop a piece of red velvet cake in it however two of the people were looking forward to this and they ordered it when they ordered their meal and it was not until about 15 to 20 minutes later the waitress came back and said they were out of red velvet cake. I had the Ruben it was average, the corned beef was tough and the sauerkraut was blah. Teresa had the BLT and said it was just okay. We both had the homemade chips they were too just okay. I ordered coleslaw with my meal and she brought it after I was half done with the rest of my food. It was very dry; if they would have doubled the sauce it would have been very good. The biggest problem with the place is the value. What you get for what it costs falls very short. Still this is a place that you need to go to a least once.

I wish there servings were as liberal and the community.
