Today’s blog is part of a series I’m going to call Despicable me. It will be about possibly one of the most important yet most misunderstood subjects in the Bible. A subject has to be properly understood for a person even being to understand the grace of God and that subject is Sin.
Despicable me 3: Can you spot the giraffe?
Can you spot the giraffe in the picture? Easy isn’t it? It’s obvious which one is the giraffe because it sticks out like a sore thumb. However when it comes to sin it should be that easy but it’s not. Because to us sin looks attractive and to be honest who could argue if it didn’t we would never be tempted. The reason sin looks so attractive is because it brings us pleasure, at least for a little bit. Again if it didn’t we would never choose it. The difference is that though it may bring pleasure, sin NEVER EVER brings happiness or joy to a Christian. But that is the lie Satan tells us. “If you do this you will be happy.” It worked on Adam and Eve and it has worked ever since. So be ready when the temptation comes, ask yourself will this bring me joy? Or will this just bring me temporary pleasure? Because if you stop and think about it, what sin have you ever held on to that’s done you one ounce of good. You can spot the giraffe but can you identify the sin in your life? It’s there, find it and repent of it.
