Don't become a pork chop

2 Peter 2:1
But there were also false prophets in Israel, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will cleverly teach destructive heresies and even deny the Master who bought them. In this way, they will bring sudden destruction on themselves.

This verse and the other ones like it in the Bible really bother me. To know that their are false teachers out there, thousands of them. Some even hiding behind a pulpit on Sunday mornings is a real concern for me. The people they are teaching or leading don't have a clue. They are given a false sense of security that they are safe just because they are in church. It reminds me of when I was growing up sorting gilts (female pigs) I remember thinking the ones going in that pen were going to become pork chops and the ones going in the other pen are going to be kept hopefully for along time to become part of our herd. But what I remember the most was the ones that were going to end up on someones plate did not have a clue to their destiny. That is what bothers me about those who sit under false teachers. They too don't realize what pen they are in that they will too be sorted.

The best way to protect yourself from false teaching is to pray and study your Bible and test what you are being told to what God himself has to say. If truly do this, and you are honest with yourself you will know. Then you can avoid the plate and become part of the herd so to speak.
