We the People

I woke up this morning thinking about this country that I have been so blessed to live in. It seems like a lot of people use this day to be with family, picnic, travel and the like which is not bad. Then there are those who think about those who are or have served in the military that’s not bad either. I have done all of those things myself already this weekend. But this morning was different, today I woke up with the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution on my mind, perhaps outside of the Bible some of the most amazing things ever written. The United States was founded solely by the grace of God and our forefathers new that and mentioned God twice in the very beginning of the Declaration of Independence. This country was founded not by men but by God. It quickly rose to be the greatest country in the world by the grace of God. It has remained the greatest and most powerful country in the world again by the grace of God. However there are many today who are working very hard to remove God from this country and if they are successful it really scares the heck out of me. For if you have studied the Bible at all you know that it is the hand of God that protects nations. There are times when a large powerful country was taken over by a much smaller country because God had removed his hand of protection from the mighty country. You may laugh but if God choose to do so Canada, Mexico, or Cuba could invade and conquer the United States of America without much trouble. He has done it before in other places and He certainly could do it again here. Besides trying to remove God from this country another thing that constantly comes under attack is the Constitution it’s self. What is says and what some politicians and especially some judges try to make it say would have the framers turning over in their graves.  We do have some churches and evangelists who are out there spreading the Good News about Christ but there are not too many out there championing the document that created the greatest and most successful form of government ever created and those who are are drowned out.  I have been in some political discussions this weekend and have been accused of being one of those, whatever that means. I have come to the conclusion that for me to support a candidate they will have to meet three different criteria and none include a particular political party. The three are in order, the proper view of Christ, the Constitution, and Conservatism. If we can get enough leaders like that we will be able to maintain the greatest nation on earth status if not, I shudder to think where we are headed. We need to be in constant prayer for this country, its leaders and most importantly God's hand of protection.
I know that you will never read it but none the less I have added a link to a copy of the Constitution in case you have forgotten what it says.
