Resturant Review: High Life Lounge

Made an unexpected trip to Des Moines on Sunday and visited the High Life Lounge. Just a place you have to experience once. From the wood paneling to the green shag carpeting you’d think you were in your grandparent’s house back in the 70’s. Never thought a place like this would get a 4 for atmosphere. We started with the bacon wrapped tater tots now I have to admit that I don’t like jalapeno peppers but the combination made them good. Most of us had the chicken it was very good. The Mac and cheese was just like Teresa makes and I don’t give those kinds of compliments out very often. One of the most pleasant surprises was the roll that came with the meal. I usually don’t do bread and it was tasty. I do however need to comment on something that usually does not get mentioned and that’s the size of the glasses that the drinks are served in. I do appreciate a good tall glass of water instead of the kiddie glasses some places try to give you when you order water. Again you need to visit this place just once.

Price range: (everyday, a night out, a special occasion only) every day
