Does sitting in a garage make you a car?

Going to church no more makes you a Christian than sitting in a garage makes you a car. As a Christian it should be your duty, privilege and honor to behold the glory of Christ. Sadly too many people are strangers to this today. There are those who are so wrapped up in being seen in church, holding an office or having some official responsibility that they miss the reason for church. Or there are those who are so anti church who say you don’t have to go to church to be a Christian.  Truth be known both of these kinds of people are in grave danger. In spite of so many people claiming to know Christ few behold his glory and are transformed into his image and likeness. Transformation is conformation that you are beholding the glory of Christ. If a person truly beholds the glory of Christ they cannot but be transformed bit by bit to be more like him. The question becomes are you daily doing something that is transforming you to be more like Him?  Like Romans 12:2 says:

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.(Romans 12:2 ESV)

This is of course follow by my 2 Corinthians verse:

And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.
So what should we take away from all of this?

1.       Don’t conform, transform.
2.       Information should lead to transformation.
3.       Now that you’re warned be transformed.
4.       Transformation is confirmation.

Sitting in Church does not make you a Christian, nor does claiming to be a Christian. However truly beholding the glory of Christ and transforming into his image does.
