2 Timothy 1:7
7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.
This is a verse that I have to remind myself of constantly. We were not created to be scared and timid. In Christ we have power, love, and self-discipline. The evil one uses fear and timidity to get us to be who we are not supposed to be. Fear in this context is nothing but a lack of trust, so when we trust in Christ we should not fear and be bold. The only fear we should have is the fear of the LORD and that is a healthy fear one that many do not have. They may not show it now, but someday those who do not fear the LORD will have the same expression that the two people in the picture do and it will be forever. SO when you hear the phrase fear this. It should be the LORD.
