Are you looking for happiness? Don't.

Ran into something interesting this morning. Did you know that in the English Standard Version of the Bible in the New Testament the word happy is not there? Not once is it used. But the word joy is used 60 times. So should we be looking for happiness or joy and what is the difference? In my mind happiness is shallow, superficial, and fleeting. Where joy is deeper, long lasting, and can only be obtained through grace. I'll take joy over happiness any day and I came to that conclusion after being reminded of  Galatians 5:22-23
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.

If you have been looking for happiness and coming up short. Ask the LORD to give you joy. Between the two there is no contest.
