John 1:14
14 So the Word became human
[d] and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness.
[e] And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son.
Even after 30 year our extended families will not give up having Christmas on Christmas day. This year Stacy and Jared celebrated their Christmas on the 23rd and our immediate family is going to treat the 24th just like Christmas day. In doing so it made me stop and think about Christmas Eve 2011 years ago a little more. What in the world was Jesus thinking? Just think about all of the things that go through your head the night before you leave for vacation. What will it be like? Will I get there okay? Did I forget to pack something? I hope I don’t forget to unplug the iron. I can’t imagine what Jesus was thinking that day. When we go on vacation we more than likely go someplace nice but He was leaving Heaven to come to a depraved and sinful world. He had everything and was bringing nothing, not even a carry on. He was God and He was coming as a baby. He was in a place where everything and everyone worshiped Him and he was coming to a place where many would despise Him. What was he thinking? He was thinking of you! He didn’t have to wonder or worry about a thing because He knew exactly what he was getting into. So whatever you do on or for Christmas take some time and think about Him. Think about what He did for you so that you may live with Him forever. I think of all the kids that go to bed on Christmas Eve anticipating the arrival of Santa and think why can’t we go to bed every night with that same excitement, anticipating that fact that Jesus coming back again?
