You'd better check your cup.

Revelation 3

15 “I know all the things you do, that you are neither hot nor cold. I wish that you were one or the other! 16 But since you are like lukewarm water, neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth! 17

Why would cold be better than lukewarm? After all lukewarm is closer to hot than cold. How can we make sense of this? A person who knows who Christ is but does not trust Him is lukewarm. These people are the ones who think that they and mankind itself is relatively good. That if you do the right thing, if your good outweighs your bad then that’s all it takes. These are very prideful people who find it very difficult if not impossible to trust in something or someone else. They are in possession of a counterfeit faith and can’t be told that what they have is not real. Whereas a person who has never considered Christ has nothing to protect thus would be more open to the truth. I am convinced that the most difficult people to witness to are “good people” it is very hard to tell a good person how bad they really are. My prayer for some time now is that those who are lukewarm would understand that at judgment day Jesus will spit them out like a nasty drink. I also pray that God would give those who are hot the courage and the knowledge to heat up those who are lukewarm, to get them to indentify that the faith they have is indeed counterfeit.   The question becomes and it’s a very important one. Are you lukewarm? You'd better check your cup.
